Week 42

Hello this week I had some great insights!

I had my last interview with President Sonksen. He and Sister Sonksen have finished their service and next transfer I will have a new mission president! I love President Sonksen, he is such a great example to me of exact obedience, and having the doctrine of Christ ingrained in our hearts. I am really grateful for his leadership.

Everything after the interviews was straight miracle after miracle! I can't write them all due to the time restriction, but here are some.

Exchanges -
Elder Faatae is from Hawaii, and what is sort of fun about him is, since I was the Zone Leader while in the MTC, I got to bring in all of the fresh new missionaries and he was one of them. It is fun to grow together!

What I learned from the exchange with Elder Faatae, was -
1 Korean really is not what matters in sharing the gospel, it is all about what is in our heart and if we have the Spirit to testify.
2 Every person that meets Elder Faatae on the streets gets instantly interested just because Elder Faatae treats everyone like his close friends and family members. He is just really bright! That is one thing I really admire about everyone from the Pacific islands, they all treat each other like "Homies".  I know that if I add some of that island love into my work, being more exciting and outgoing with others, then they can really feel special and will open their hearts to these special truths we have to share!
3  If you put all your faith and energy into the work then God WILL fill your day with the people you need to met!

There were things that happened that day that I couldn't explain. God really was helping me, and Elder Faatae. That same day was the first time that I had met with an investigator in there home! And we handed out so many pamphlets just out on the street!! And, the rest of the week I have been able to follow that same pattern of being able to introduce the gospel to as many people as I can!

Spiritual Break Through with our investigator-
One of our investigators that we have only been able to meet via video chat, phone calls and text messages, has had a breakthrough!! He called me as I was on my way to a service activity we had in 덕소 (A place that is in my first area)!

The thing is when we contact investigators we are always the first to reach out to them, and I don't like to be a pester. But, he called us!! He was cheerful and just  happy! When I asked him why he was in such a good mood, he told me that he had been visited by the Holy Spirit last night!
He had been telling us that he has been feeling a lack of the Spirit of truth in his life, and recently he has been wondering whether or not God has a work for him to accomplish. So, on Friday night he was praying about those exact things! He said that God has blessed with a gift of knowledge and wisdom (revelation).  And, he also said that he was extremely grateful that we have been helping him learn more about Christ's gospel, and that every time he talks with us he feels happy.
The reason he was calling was to gain more clarification on what he learn by the Spirit!
We called him later that evening and he said that he just finished work. We asked him how his day was and he said that it was the same work, but that he is full of joy and it makes his work feel completely new. He was still on a high from last night.
But, because work had just ended his friends were going out to drink (typical here in Korea). What was cool though was that he recognized a truth by the Spirit just then.
He said "I usually go out to drink with my friends, but I was scared that if I go out and drink, I will forget what has been taught to me by the Spirit. I do not want to ever lose this feeling. Alright, Elders, I think I am going to head home now."
He practically taught himself the Word of Wisdom!!!
Right after that call I looked to PMG where it says...
"The Spirit does not get our attention by shouting or shaking us with a heavy hand. Rather it whispers. It caresses so gently that if we are preoccupied we may not feel it at all. (No wonder that the Word of Wisdom was revealed to us, for how could the drunkard or the addict feel such a voice?)"
There is great things happening here in 동대문(Dong-Day-Moon)

I know that as missionaries what we teach are eternal truths and that if we pray to our Heavenly Father, then he WILL grace us with wisdom by the spirit, and that he will quicken us to understanding! We all need that personal revelation that President Nelson has stressed this last Conference!

I love this Gospel and I know that God has restored His gospel through the prophet Joseph Smith. And that he continues the restoration of His gospel through his servants. We all chose to come here on Earth to test our faith. And, could we ask for a better responsibility than to be a restorer of truth and carry the light of the gospel to those who are still in spiritual darkness. How GREAT is my calling!

All the pictures of green stuff and the river is from the service activity in 덕소.
